Traditional May Day service at the Bijūnai UD centre

On the evening of 17 May, the traditional May Day service for the family was held at the Bijūnai UD Centre, asking for the intercession and protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The service was attended by a large number of community members and guests: cross-carving researcher Dr. Alė Počiulpaitė, cultural scientist Rita Balsevičiūtė from the Dzūkija-Suvalkija Directorate of Protected Territories, and the folk singing group "Karunka", led by Dr. Zita Karklelytė.
The group "Karunka" performed St. Dr. Alė Počiulpaitė talked about the symbolism of crosses in Lithuanian culture, and Rita Balsevičiūtė expressed her joy at the lively traditions of May Day in our region.
