About Us
The Bijūnai Multifunctional Universal Centre in Trakai District is a budgetary institution of the Trakai District Municipality. The founder of the institution is the Trakai District Municipal Council. The purpose of the Centre is to provide social, cultural, sporting and non-formal education services for children, young people and adults. The Centre shall carry out the activities provided for in the Statutes: non-formal education of children and adults, organisation of cultural events, organisation of sporting events, organisation and provision of leisure employment services, organisation and provision of social services. The activities are aimed at reducing social exclusion of people of all ages living in rural areas by meeting the socio-cultural needs of the community.
The Centre communicates and seeks cooperation with other institutions, communities, and public organisations in Trakai District Municipality, and participates as a partner or guest in other institutions' events and projects.
The activities are organised in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania, the laws of the Republic of Lithuania, the Government Resolutions, the decisions of the Trakai District Municipal Council, the Mayor's Decrees, the orders of the Director of Administration, the Regulations of the Trakai District Bijūnai Multifunctional Universal Centre approved by the Decision of the Trakai District Municipal Council of 30 June 2022, Decision No. S1E-119, the Law on Education of the Republic of Lithuania, the Law on Cultural Centres of the Republic of Lithuania, as well as other laws and legal acts.
The Centre's programme of activities is designed to ensure the implementation of the requirements of the Statutes. The programme shall take into account the strategic objectives of the District, existing economic and social factors and the Centre's internal resources.
History
Bijūnai Primary School was established in 1969, and at that time it provided eight years of education. In 1999 it was reorganised into a ten-year school. In 2017, the school was reorganised into the Bijūnai School-Multifunctional Centre, and from 1 September 2022, by the decision of the Trakai District Municipal Council No S1E-81 of 28 April 2022 "On the reorganisation of the internal structure of the Bijūnai School-Multifunctional Centre of Trakai District and the change of the name of the Centre", the Centre will be operating as the Bijūnai Multifunctional Multipurpose Universal Centre of the Trakai District. The centre also houses a branch of the Trakai Public Library.

From 1 January 2024, the Centre will offer art classes for children and young people as well as for adults, sports classes, table tennis, theatre and vocal music ensemble classes for adults.

8 participants take part in the activities. Leader Aleksas Vasiliauskas. The group is updating its repertoire and planning trips to other communities. The events organised by the Bijūnai Multifunctional Centre do not pass without the performances of this collective. The group is also frequently invited to events in Aukštadvaris, Čižiūnai, Dusmenys and Beižionys.
Amateur Theatre Collective
10 - 15 participants take part in the activities. Several plays have been staged during this time. In 2022, the group staged a play based on A. Vilkutaitis-Keturakis' play "America in the Bath". This performance was shown to members of the communities of Dusmenis, Aukštadvaris, Tilty, Onuškis, Pastrėvis, Čižiūnai. In 2023, the play "Temptations" was staged, based on Untulis' play "The Wart on the Nose". The play has been performed 10 times for the communities of Bijūnai, Dusmens, Onuškio, Čižiūnai, Pastrėvis, Tilty, Grendavė, Senieji Trakai, Trakai. In 2024, the activities of the collective will continue. A new performance is being staged.
