GANDRINĖS MACKANTIŠKĖS, STANISLAVA BARKAUSKIENĖ'S HOMESTEAD, AT GANDRALIZDIS
Since tomorrow, the storks have been staying in the nest and waiting for visitors.
At 12 noon, the community of Mackantiškės village gathered in the courtyard, and the elder Marijonas Mackevičius came bearing eggs of various colours. A whole flock of children from the Aukštadvaris school/kindergarten "Gandriukas" came, and the vocal ensemble "Pinavija" of the Bijūnai Multifunctional Centre, led by Aleksas Vasiliauskas, also came with songs.
The celebration was held with songs and dances. Bakers Asta Mackevičienė and Miglė Dalgedaitė baked eggs on the bonfire and treated the guests, and those who did not want to taste them were chased around the yard with a big spoon. Renata Mackevičienė, an ecologist of the Dzūkija-Suvalkija Protected Territories Directorate, told about the stork's travels, and Rita Balsevičiūtė, an ethnologist of the Dzūkija-Suvalkija Protected Territories Directorate, who was dressed up as a stork, talked about the Stork Feast and was the leader of the whole event.
What would a festival be without sponsors, and we would like to say a big thank you to Ramune Bartkevičienė, Elder of Aukštadvaris Elderage, and Trakai Youth Tourism and Leisure Centre.
The stork patiently watched us from up high with its beak and patiently looked around and rewarded the children and guests with stork treats!
It was recorded and filmed by TV3 journalists.
