On the evening of 17 May, the traditional May Day service for the family was held at the Bij\u016bnai UD Centre, asking for the intercession and protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary.<\/div>
The service was attended by a large number of community members and guests: cross-carving researcher Dr. Al\u0117 Po\u010diulpait\u0117, cultural scientist Rita Balsevi\u010di\u016bt\u0117 from the Dz\u016bkija-Suvalkija Directorate of Protected Territories, and the folk singing group \"Karunka\", led by Dr. Zita Karklelyt\u0117.<\/div>
The group \"Karunka\" performed St. Dr. Al\u0117 Po\u010diulpait\u0117 talked about the symbolism of crosses in Lithuanian culture, and Rita Balsevi\u010di\u016bt\u0117 expressed her joy at the lively traditions of May Day in our region.<\/div>
